I know honey isn't supposed to go bad so this one is a little weird. It's not rotten, but it was stored in an aluminum can for who knows how long and now it tastes like metal in a bad way. This is the can it came in from the store and I think it belonged to a previous roommate - I unearthed it while hunting through a cabinet for something else. It was mostly crystalized and darkened near the sides and I tried melting it down and putting it in my tea and it just tastes AWFUL!! And I'm sure it's not good for me to eat that much aluminum either. So if I can't eat it, does anyone have ideas of what I can do with it? Would it still work as a skin treatment or does the large amount of aluminum make that a bad idea? Should I just give up and toss it? Other ideas are welcome. Also, has anyone else had this happen to honey? It's really weird.

I got some pictures on the canoes taken in Goa, near our Island called Kantor. I promise I will share the pictures with every one who is interested to have a look at the indegenous canoes that traverse the rivulets of Goa. Mostly the konkonos use them to catch fish and carry stuff around. And incidentally I had rowed the canoe as my hubby was taking pictures for a change. Its lovely. I don't know the depth of the river, but I know its very deep and I was enjoying the flotating feeling. I just love water provided there are no creepies and crawleys trying to harm me in any way. I wish we understood nature the way it should be. Speaking about creatures, there is one animal I love the most and they are dolphins. Just read the other day on the news paper that dolphins have a strange ability to turn on and turn off their diabetes. And humans used to do the same but they have conveniently forgotten some good things in life. I just want to go back to nature and learn more from it.

So, I noticed that BS was completely tearing my ends apart. Yes, my hair was very clean, but the dryness was beginning to be too much to deal with (even with ACV rinses). After almost a year of using BS and ACV (yay!), I decided to try Shikakai. Love: how soft my hair is, how shiny. Do not love: hair is not as clean as with BS, and is oily and kind of nasty after only 3 days. I was able to go one full week with using BS. Has anyone had any similar experiences? I want to love shikakai, especially because of all the wonderful things I hear about it. TIA!

Hey everyone! I'm so happy I found this community. There's so much useful information in here but I haven't found any information on one particular thing in the tags or memories. I'm currently in the process of switching all my beauty products to cruelty-free products. I'm looking for a pH neutral bar soap to replace my wonderful Dove bar soap. It does wonders for my skin but they, of course, test on animals. Is there such thing as a pH neutral bar soap other than Dove? I did some research but I didn't really find any information. I want to try Dr. Bronner's soap but I'm worried it'll leave a squeaky clean residue. I don't want to feel anything on my skin, just smoothness. I need a moisturizing soap that I can use everywhere, even my girly bits. If there is no such thing, would I be better off using liquid soap? I could do this but I rather not use a sponge or loofa. Thanks so much for all your help in advance!

i need to get rid of these things since they dont fit me anymore. these things are all used! but in great shape! for sale itemsplease let me know if you want any of them :D

Calling all yard and garden masters! When we bought this house, it had two "driveways" made out of the local limestone pebbles. Then the flood came and moved the pebbles... well... everywhere. They're still in the general areas they were in before, but they're spread out across whole swaths of yard instead of just the two manageable zones. Does anyone have a good technique for getting these nuisances out of the yard and into a more manageable area, short of renting a bobcat and taking out half the yard in the process? I could use them to fill in some low spots by the house and have a rock base for the garbage/compost zone so that it doesn't get all muddy there when it rains.

Right now I'm in the process of upgrading all my degrading kitchen-ware. Basically everything my boyfriend and I have has been hand-me-downs given to us throughout the years by parents and other relatives. As a result we now have tons of rusted stainless steel baking sheets, really low quality cooking utensils, and severely damaged pots and pans all of which I'm slowly replacing. This week, I'm replacing our skillet. Our skillet was, at one point, teflon. But I'm guessing someone scrubbed it to death with some steel wool and now the bottom is almost all exposed aluminum. Everything sticks in it and everything burns, not to mention the potential dangers of scratched teflon. I hate, hate, hate stainless steel cookware. So right now I'm looking into either getting a new teflon skillet and taking great care of it or getting a cast-iron. I am intrigued by cast iron, but I've never cooked with it before and I don't know anyone who has. I don't know how to clean it, how to care for it, but my biggest concern is how it will cook. For months I've dealt with everything burning or sticking in my pans and I'd hate to buy a new pan only to have the same problems. Any advice?
Hi All,
This is just a sample of what I posted, check out my blog for more office plants.
Dypsis lutescens - Cleans the air - Direct light (keep near your window) - Moderate care required (water regularly) Warning: this can become a BIG plant! “Thanks to its huge fronds (which can reach 6 feet in height and feature 60 leaflets), this palm is especially effective at filtering airborne particles” (1).

I looked under the heart health tag, but couldn't find anything, and i couldn't think where else to look. I have recently developed heartburn. I am 24, vegan and decently healthy. Nothing has changed - if anything, my diet has gotten healthier the past couple months. I work with one-year-olds, so I get a decent amount of exercise a day. Stress has possibly gone up lately. I am kind of assuming that it's stress-related. But basically, heartburn just spikes all of a sudden, usually around 5 or 6 pm for anywhere from a couple minutes to a couple hours, or sporadically during the day. Is there anything I can do to help this? And what about rust around drains? I believe it's rust at least - that disgusting orange-ish stuff around my sink drain. I have tried scrubbing the heck out of it with baking soda, but that barely touched it. I know CLR would work, but I really doubt that's a very natural product.

Does anyone know somewhere to get a purse like https://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/bxtbg_ontv.html but not in leather? I am in Canada so stores up here would be much appreciated. I am going to be traveling and want a purse that has many little compartments for things as I won't have much packing room. Any help would be appreciated! TIA!

Hey everyone! Just a little heads-up about the new zines available at Black Light Diner Distro! HIGH ON BURNING PHOTOGRAPHS #5/ASYLUM #1 (Pittsburgh, PA/Santa Clarita, CA) This split between Ocean and her penpal Matt, who is incarcerated. Meeting through a prisoner book program, they compiled this zine without ever having met, and the result is a zine on a diverse number of topics. In her articles, Ocean relates an attempt by her boss to create a Jackson Pollock painting, revisits 1997, and provides haiku book reviews. Matt's contributions tend toward the philosophical, as he questions what it means for something to be counterfeit, opines on philosophical zombies, and writes a "love letter" to Folsom Prison. I haven't read very many zines by prisoners, and this one was an eye-opener, providing just a glimmer of insight about what it is actually like to be incarcerated, and the many trials Matt will have to face even when "released." ( more under cut! )Thanks for reading! Erica

I am hoping that someone here has a creative answer to my question: is there anything productive that can be done with used cooking oil? I am mostly interested in the oil from deep frying. Yes, I know, as cooking techniques go it's not the epitome of health... but I have to think that it's somewhat healthier to do at home rather than getting fast food. The problem is that the oil is usually good for something like 3-5 uses, and then should be replaced (it starts to break down from the heat). And then- one has a LOT of oil that really isn't good for any cooking-type thing anymore. If I knew someone who had biodeisel, I'd give it to them happily- but I don't. So- any other ideas? We're talking about MAYBE a quart or so of oil every few months, so it's not like I need to get rid of gallons. However, I'd rather use it somehow than just dump it in a landfill! Thank you much for any ideas!

I've made this once before, and am now wondering if I made it incorrectly. Instead of using whole flax seeds, I used the milled flax that I already had in my cupboard. The concoction was yellowish and extremely runny (just barely thicker than water). I found it difficult to apply, as it wasn't "tacky" like most hair products. Even with keeping it in the fridge, it didn't thicken up. I want to make another batch, this time with whole seeds. What should i expect from the flax gel, in tems of color, consistancy, and results? TIA :-) **Edit** I just made a batch with the whole seeds and I know now that using milled flax was a mistake. The consistamcy is much, much better ( i can tell with it still being in the pan) and the color isn't werid, either. Feel free to remove this post f you like....sorry

I'm trying to find a homemade mayonnaise recipe that actually tastes like mayo from the grocery store, but without all the junk and additives. Every recipe I've tried doesn't taste anything like what I'm used to. Any suggestions? I know it's probably going to be difficult to replicate the flavor without the heavy processing, but perhaps someone has a recipe that comes close.

I've been using a mixture of sesame and almond oil on wet skin after showering, but it always leaves that greasy feeling that I hate. I've heard that coconut oil absorbs quickly, so I'm going to give it a try. Here's my question: how do you use coconut oil on hair and body? Do you apply it to wet or dry hair/skin?

I have a few potatoes that I never used this winter, I left them alone because I had the idea to grow them come spring. They were local grown and at least I now they started out from a healthy plant. Two now have eyes that are most definitely sprouting(one has a pretty funky design and color, sort of cool). I am still in the process of trying to figure out container gardening for myself this year(landlord won't let me plant anything), but I would really like to do something ASAP with these 2 potatoes. I have seen several online websites about container gardening but prefer to get advice from people that have tried it themselves. SO...what are your best websites or advice on planting an already sprouting potato? I should make it clear that these 2 I am going to bring to school and grow there, I'm not so concerned about getting edible potatos from this but a nice plant so that my students can see how potatoes grow(if I do get a few baby tubors to show them that's a bonus :). Thoughts?
Ok so I've been no poo for... about 5 weeks now and reading this community for a few months (it took me ages to suspend disbelief and give it a go!). I currently use BS (1 teaspoon in 400ml water) and ACV (about a 1:4 ratio, with a few drops of lavender oil in), and I have to say, I LOVE my hair. It has never looked so good, it's even convinced my super-trendy 20yr old sister that I'm not a total hippy mentalist. I had barely any transition phase, possibly because I've always been a bit of a soap dodger... in fact I hadn't realised until very recently but my skin has been no poo for 8 years already. Anyway... my questions are about travelling with no poo ''shampoo''... I am travelling round North America for 3 months, I wont be in any one place for longer than 3 days and I'm a bit concerned this is going to mess my hair care regime up. So far my hair has been subjected to hard (at home) and soft (in London) water, and I have to say the chopping and changing did not go down well. It still looked clean and smelt clean, but just not right somehow. I know BS and ACV are easily found in the US and Canada (I wont be in Mexico long enough for that to be an issue), but after reading some questionable comments on here about BS I'm a bit concerned for the health of my hair if I continue to use it whilst swimming and probably soaking up too much sun. There seem some great alternative cleansers, but they all seem to involve a stove and a pan. I am mostly camping, and I just dont think I'm going to be able to make up batches of them when I need them. Does anyone have any other suggestions (or alterations to current recipies) for travel friendly hair care? I could always go WO but honestly, the few WO washes I have tried so far were tantamount to pointless... my hair actually felt both more greasy and drier than before I washed!
